Pokémon Fun Fest Celebi question #2

Open eisnerguy1 opened 3 weeks ago

I had a question about PokeMe64. In this screenshot, it mentions Pokémon Fun Fest Celebi. Is that a legit Celebi from the Six Flags event from 2001? If so, how did you come across it? Is it from your own personal GSC save file? I had a Celebi from that event but, it vanished when my Crystal save died.

Thanks!

I don't know if you saw all my responses to your PM on reddit. (for outsiders: he sent me the same question via pm on reddit). But let me summarize my earlier responses.

The event pokémon in PokeMe64 are recreated based on the listings on Bulbapedia:

As such, they're not "legit" in the sense that they were not directly copied by me from dumped cartridge saves.

Instead they were recreated based on the properties listed on Bulbapedia. However, they should be identical or at the very least very close to the real thing (in case I made a mistake or missed some info somewhere). The base stats are part of the rom, so apart from the IVs (which are random in most cases), moves, OT and trainer id and any potential forced shininess, there isn't much data to such distribution event pokémon. So I think in most cases they should pass for the real thing.

The goal of this project is preservation and to give people the chance to acquire such pokémon on actual cartridges without using a gameshark or software like pkHex. (not everyone has access to a cartridge dumper or wants to use a pc to modify the saves).

Now, as I understand, you really want to get back a copy of a legit Celebi from this specific Six Flags event. (based on both your PM, this issue ticket AND your post here: https://projectpokemon.org/home/forums/topic/49020-pok%C3%A9mon-fun-fest-celebi/)

I really wish to help you with that goal in what way I can.

Based on the lack of response on that projectpokemon topic and me not finding any reference to such saves either, it seems it will be difficult or even impossible to come by.

If you or anyone else could find a save file, I'd be happy to help you get that pokémon onto your cartridge with PokeMe64. There would be 2 options:

But without the save, I'm a bit stuck. While I do trust the Bulbapedia listings to be accurate, I can't guarantuee it. And it's clearly dear to your heart. So I'd be happy to verify or otherwise help you if I can have a save file.

To that end, maybe you can contact Bulbapedia to figure out their sources on that particular wiki entry. Maybe they do have a save file somewhere? It couldn't hurt to try, right?

If the event location can be ignored, I'm sure there must be other preserved save files out there from other celebi events. So if you're open to that, I can extend the same offer to help to get one of those onto your cartridge. Then at least you'd know you have a copy of a legit one.

There's also the in-game GS Ball Celebi event which PokeMe64 already supports. PokeMe64 can unlock this event in your pokemon crystal cartridge. I know this GS Ball event wasn't officially distributed in Europe and the U.S.. But it was fully coded and translated in the EU and US releases. So in a way, the Celebi you'd get from this event is legit.

Anyway, I'd be happy to help you in any way I can!

Best regards,
