Spanish Latin American translation #1395

Can i start/be a part of the spanish translation?

Hello @MauricioLanda , Notepad3 is already translated in "Spanish/Spain (es-ES)". But, we are looking for translators for "Spanish/Mexico (es-MX)" or other Spanish/Latin America (es-XX) and also "Portuguese/Portugal/Brasil". 🤔

👍, i will check on that in the future then, since i translate to latin-american spanish only i'll try to give my input whenever possible/needed, thanks for the response 😁

I try to understand: were you a real candidate to start a translation into "Spanish/Mexico (es-MX)" ? 🤔

i am from a country in latin american, mexico is central american, and with that there are notable differences, even with spanish from spain:

Grammar

In the Spanish language there is a marked difference between the informal tú and the formal usted when addressing someone, with TÚ used almost everywhere. But only in Spain will you find a difference in the plural with the informal vosotros and the formal ustedes. In Latin America only ustedes is used.

Vocabulary

Depending on which country you find yourself in, you are confronted with different names for the same

For me the biggest difference is jargon, which can be applied in a text without even noticing if your understanding of spanish is local(from the place you were born), so, that is a pit one could fall on

and when you don't know that jargon/way of expressing something is not that inclusive, that is why i go the latin-american way of translating (which, to my understanding, is generic/basic spanish with no jargon).

my way of speaking could be considered Castilian Spanish.

“Castilian Spanish” refers to a standard kind of Spanish language, or more precisely, the purest kind of Spanish accent. Saying that somebody speaks Castilian Spanish, is a little bit like saying that an English speaker speaks “Oxford English”. In other words, the person speaks the language in its “best”, “purest”, “proper” or “original” form.

a lot of people can't tell the difference or they don't fully realize if they are talking in spanish or castilian spanish

with Castilian Spanish, you avoid focusing on bolivian, argentinian, venezuelan, chilean, mexican, etc spanish and you go the more generic round.

@MauricioLanda : Beside any corrections to es-ES (Spanish/Spain), do you have any suggestion which Spanish "sub-language" has quite big difference to es-ES, so it would make sense to create a separate language package :

Hello @MauricioLanda , I know the difference between "Castilian Spanish" and "Latin American Spanish" ! But this is not the place to start a flame discussion on "Spanish grammar, vocabulary, jargon, etc..." !

You asked us to become a part of the translation team: my answer is "Yes, for sure", but not for "Spanish/Spain (es-ES)", but for a "Localization in South America" ​​to be define.

So I ask you (Yes or No), if you want to start as a serious and motivated voluntary translator a "South America Localization" of "Notepad3 AND Minipath" ? As for a first "South America Localization" I have no particular preference for the language code, it can be:
