Unrreal online log time. Why this happen ? #147

Describe the bug I once noticed that a person called "MY FIRST CONTACT" (registered in my contact list and I will now call MFC), was online for hours during the night. Obviously, that made me curious, but I didn't know if I had done something wrong, trying to monitor the MFC together with another contact and a non-contact. I was trying to monitoring 3 persons (excluding MFC , one of other two usually sleep very lately - at dawn). To resolve this inconsistency at that time, I routinely downloaded a log and restarted my browser every 4 or 6 hours.

Today, with time, I think I realized, what happened, and maybe, if the problem was here (at the point I found), a possible correction can be made.

Reproduce

Expected behavior At some point, perhaps because of the order of people to be monitored (contacts or non-contacts), or perhaps for another reason, an unrealistic value will appear in the log record.

In my screenshot below, You'll see at log's line 5, My First Contact - and "preferred monitored" appearing online at 12:50:51 (in green rectangle) and goes offline at 13:30:55 (in red rectangle). You see also My non -contact (MN-C) at line 6, goes online at 13:30:55 (in red and same moment of MFC going to offline). Following the log, you'll see some normal connect and disconect time until 16:08:29, when suddenly appear My Second Contact - MSC, (at line 28) connecting at 12:50:51 (in green and same mommento of MFC going to online) and still until 16:14:37, staying online for more than 3 hours .

Okay, for many is very normal stays on WA for 40 minutes, but is not normal stays for 3 hours without open a YT link, or "image galery", or other thing like a browser. For me, both cases was a error with the time, or other thing.

Someone had the same experience?

Sometime chrome running on long hours I also feel it's not able to produce real data .

Chrome RAM usage are more so if someone will online it's sometimes always online for many hours normally it's not responding for offline notification.

I am also looking to remove this bug a stable long hour running with accurate info.

Any suggestions to improve this.

I let chrome running for days. Actually, my laptop is restarted about 3 or 4 days.

I also have many tabs, so when some bug happens in my S.O (like cache usage on linux), I do a restart because i 'm afraid lost tabs.

My log (in first comment) show us a problem occuring at Feb 3rd. I'll check in S.O Logs to see how many time I was in that day .

In the screenshot below you'll see many things: I highlighted someones.

I do a Restart machine (wasn't a shutdown because I have registries after 20:27 of Jan 31st ) and the first (possible) problem occurs at 11:32 of Feb 2nd. In Spreadshhets I get a close answer about the range-time image Maybe was about 39 hours in chrome usage, this happen.

Maybe the time is correct, or no, because some things happen and i show you next

I did a grep/filter in my thousands of logs and send you ( in the next comments some examples)

Firstly, I don't know if I do in the right way, but one day (with another version of chrome extensio) I was having problem with long "Auto Save CSV function". I Crashed my chrome every time and lost logs too. To solve then I save my logs at 5 minutes. And generate many files at my Download folder.

So, I did a grep/filter to catch all files, removing repeatead registries between the logs.. I Intend to use this to automatize the cleaning (or to get only my Favorite contact)

It doesn't matter..

Let's see some examples of my problem:

CASE A - First occurs (false-positive maybe)

(1) I Send a message at 15:50. Deliver occurs 16:34. Connects occurs 16:34. Send me a a message at 16:40, and still online. I dont know if I let the window chat open, or not.

PS: MY-CONTACT-1 connect at the same time of NON-Contact (look for 16:34:47 and see it) . PS: NON-CONTACT-NON-FAV-1 is a comercial/support number. maybe it s possible to stays online for many time.

CASE B - Stays online until we open chat (false-positive maybe)

(2) Here MY-CONTACT-1 connects at 11:32 for another chat (not me). send me a message at 12:29. I answer at 12:46. when MY-CONTACT-1 goes out. Okay, it's totattly possible the contact close the chat, but appear a case when we see the "green haert icon" for long time and when we check the chat, it turns "red".

CASE C - Two contacts online at the same second (false-positive maybe)

(4) Here, I send a message at 14:29 to "NON-CONTACT-NON-FAV-3". connect at 14:30. Was Read (and answer me) at 14:31. goes out (first time) at 14:36. appear online at 14:37 and goes out. and happens again. goes online at 14:39 and stays for 40 minutes.

(3) PS: Before NON-CONTACT-NON-FAV-3 goes out. 2 persons goes online in same time. (x) PS: The NON-CONTACT-NON-FAV-3 is a comercial/support/shopping number. Maybe is possible to stays for long time.

CASE D - (false-positive maybe)

(5) Here a little observation about the time-jump between 05am and 12pm. I work with my laptop at home the day before Feb 3rd. Next day at the morning I hibernate/suspend and Start working at office. Arriving there I forgot to start monitoring. When Decide to Start monitoring I get this issue at Feb 3rd.

(6) PS: I realize 3 numbers going online at the same time (look for 12:50:51). PS: MY-CONTACT-AndFAV-1, was my prefered monitored contact (mentioned in my first comment). The chat-window stay open all time.

Edit: The CASE D is the same from my first comment at Feb 3rd. I just grep/filter my files at the day I want , and sorting by 3rd column too.

Desktop App or browser extension.

Desktop will be based on Electron framework which use chromium inbuilt it will also take more RAM consumption.

The tracking is disabled by Whatsapp. As no other 3rd party premium app work in the playstore.

No, I mean for the contacts you never chat. or blocked contact does not work now. Is this extension work?

Hello people, Just registered for giving some support that might help, regarding what I've noticed on this situation. The first update in whatsapp privacy happened in early December, since then we became unable to check strangers online status even though they set "everyone" as privacy anymore, unless we chat them before or they have us in contact list. Many premium app i was trying at the time struggled at first but ultimately managed to find a workaround to keep tracking activities on server ( notifications showing "number X is online/offline") and some of those were really precise until these days, i can tell you firsthand because i was using them, some others still were showing the actual time online.

Two days ago something more happened as these apps completely stopped working, quite unexpectedly... so the first issue with non-contacts was almost overcome without much hassle, now is something more.

You mention "non-contacts was almost overcome without much hassle." How to solved it yet? It is not working.

Now is not working, but as I said the whatsapp update of hiding last seen for strangers happened in December, so the majority of premium app switched from tracking actual time online to online/offline activity (let's say "there was an interaction with the server", it was up to you to guess wheter is online time or offline time), so it was practically overcome, I put my WA number on an premium tracking app installed in a second phone and got all my entrances and exits on whatsapp right, even though I've never messaged with that wa number, I didn't even need a second whatsapp account, the app was doing everything as soon as you insert the target number.

Now since two days every tracking application completely stopped.

OK , Whatsapp has hardened the privacy. But some apps says it can track, but the app will send some random text to that number for tracking, and they have increased the subscription prices as well. So now it is not possible to track as whatsapp has made changes.

Yeah but I'm wondering from a programmer perspective what could have happened, since yesterday! As I told you, you couldn't check the last seen since December in the native whatsapp application, but premium tracker managed to have some contact with their servers and continued working with that different "mode" to these days.

Personally I wouldn't expose myself with sending a random message to a target number, given that he can spot suspicious behavior and block the number, given that he has privacy set "everyone" (it will be very odd a target will save a random number sending random text). Premium apps were still tracking normally after the last update two months ago, what the hell has happened.

I hope to hear something from Rizwan.

Maybe you are on beta and whatsapp released for now official everyone so it's public that's why may be stopped tracking.

No, I don't have beta on my phone, in the native app checking online status of strangers is impossible since dicember (that infamous update which whatsapp official team addressed with an official statement), but tracking via premium apps was still on and remained till 11 February, from two days every app has stopped, just downloaded now whatsdoge and they're claiming to be close to a solution

Yes that is the problem. It was a sudden change on 11 feb. Did you test whatsdog?

Whatsdog and yanwa (netwa) were working perfectly until they suddenly stopped three days ago, on my behalf I can say that they were very reliablea and accurate, I don't know what's going on now.

Anyway I'm in a telegram group with other customers of netwa and of course we're annoyed by this situation, but as soon there'll be people willing to pay to track numbers there'll be programmers in search for a solution 🤣

Yeah but online activity will always be subject to tracking, since the regular whatsapp users can look at last seen of the other users (when you open the app there's a contact with their servers), in certain cases like non-contacts is just hidden but is somehow there stored in WA servers. Until now they've worked with polling through WA servers, that's how whatsdog & Co. pick their data of online action

Sorry for delayed message @rizwansoaib .

Problably the answer is not important right now, once we have another problems, including that mentioned recently on #145 (with Experimental Soved Tag ).

My problem was occurring with my laptop wtih 12GB RAM, and CPU Intel Core-i5-5thGen.

Today I am working with another laptop, but... I've decided to Stop monitoring, until now, when I realized there is a problem with active WA window.
