Current default badge name length is set to 16. My name is 17 including spaces, but has worked for years. I'm not sure what the max length should be, but I cannot update my profile's other fields because I am not willing to shorten my badge name.
We may need to do some tests with Badges to understand the true max length with the font we are currently using... or provide a user a warning that any characters beyond 16 may be truncated on the badge, if we allow more than 16..
