If we ever do scheduling, I think that it would be great to remind the member that they are on duty ( or soon will be ) and to "check in" to ensure proper coverage.

-- Where did this come from? Some times people will not show up for their required shift. It would be really awesome if 60 minutes before their shift, they get a reminder that the are soon to be on duty. Then, when a supervisor or officer checks the board, they know that the member is on their way in to ensure proper coverage.

and if the member is not en-route, proper coverage can be made.

solves the @6am when not everyone is present issue.
