Once more,
Jun 24 23:46:08 grahamperrin kernel[0]: MacFUSE: unknown response from alert
panel (kr=0,

(type=2, err=57)
Jun 24 23:46:08 grahamperrin kernel[0]: MacFUSE: OUCH! daemon did not give fh
(type=2, err=5)
The mount point remained, but was apparently empty, so again I assume that the
encfs process was no longer
running.

Might this be an issue with EncFS.plugin to MacFusion?
I'll create a ticket at <http://dev.systemred.net/trac/encfs/report>
drawing attention to this MacFUSE issue 227.
Best regards
Graham

<http://dev.systemred.net/trac/encfs/ticket/6> refers to this issue. Highlight
from the summary there:
> I'm not sure whether I'm seeing an issue with (a) EncFS.plugin to
> MacFusion, (b) MacFusion or (c) MacFUSE but broadly speaking: the
> symptoms have presented only whilst using EncFS.

The alert panel uses an unsupported Apple KPI (KUNC) that's not really
encouraged by Apple. It doesn't seem to
work too well (and sometimes not at all) in certain upcoming versions of the
OS. I might just remove the alert
panel altogether.
That still leaves the end-user-related question: if a user-space file system
does not respond for N seconds,
what do users want to happen? It's either ugly or a lot of kernel+user code (if
done reasonably) to do a blocking
UI dialog from the kernel. Anyway, we should discuss this more in the forum. As
far as this original issue is
concerned, I won't be able to do much/anything about the alert panel (which,
like I said, might just go away).
