Hang on loading anything from Navi-X networks #214

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
1. What is the technical error you are experiencing?
Trying to load any listing from Navi-X Networks causes a hang. XBMC either
crashes on its own or I have to kill it.

2. What steps will reproduce the problem?
Navi-X -> Navi-Xtreme Portal -> Navi-X Networks -> TV Shows -> Sports -> ESPN

3. What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I expect to eventually get a listing of shows. Instead I get a "please
wait..." message that never goes away and can't be cleared. Sometimes XBMC
crashes and sometimes I have to kill it.

4. What version number of Navi-X are you using?
3.7.8

5. What media center platform, version and operating system are you using?
XBMC on OS X 10.6

6. Please provide any additional information below:

Anybody wanting to watch Football games should use SportsDevil In the video
add-ons!

I think UK and Ireland ISP's are trying to block the use of Navi-X!

Anybody who just purchased a TV box or so like myself is basically screwed!

I just installed Navi-X for the very first time, version 3.7.8 and am
disappointed to see that I also have this error.

http://navi-x.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/Playlists/home2.plx
Please wait....

And then I have to kill XBMC to get out of it.

My XBMC is a vanilla Windows 8 64-bit Laptop.

Original comment by apotaz...@gmail.com on 25 Aug 2013 at 6:04

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
This is how I just managed to fix it on my Windows 8 box. I imagine the
procedure should be similar for other platforms but I can't help you with that.
I'm sure you will manage it though.

Exit XBMC
Browse to the folder where XBMC App Data is located. For me it is at
1) C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\XBMC\addons\Navi-X
2) Find the settings.dat file and edit it with your favorite text editor (I
used Notepad++)
3) Replace the first line of the file (yours will probably say
http://navi-x.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/Playlists/home2.plx) with
http://whufclee.googlecode.com/svn/Navi-X/pluginhomepage.plx
4) Save the file
5) Start XBMC and Navi-X
6) Try the entry that says 'Latest Entries Madwiz92'. Thats the one that works
for me.

Hope I have been able to help somewhat.

Make sure you enabled viewing of hidden items in Windows. Maybe that's why you
can't find it. Although if you were able to find the folder, then you should
be able to see the file that's in it also.

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
Andy, is it the same for windows 7 and 8?

Original comment by navix...@gmail.com on 25 Aug 2013 at 1:10

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
Yes both Windows 7 & 8 store the users data under the C:\Users folder by
default, so you should be able to locate the folder there. Windows XP stores
the user profiles under '\Documents & Settings' folder, although I can't say
for sure if XBMC when running on Windows XP has the settings.dat in the same
folder.

best thing to do is to do a file search on you hard disk, and see what
locations Windows comes up with.

Not meaning to be condescending but the path I mentioned as

C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\XBMC\addons\Navi-X

you would replace the 'yourusername' with your Windows logon user.

For example my user is 'Andy' so the path where I find the file is
C:\Users\Andy\AppData\Roaming\XBMC\addons\Navi-X

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
BTW if you hit Windows Key + R (to bring up the 'Run' dialog), then type
%appdata% you will be taken to your current user profile folder. That's for
Win 7 & 8. May help some of you that can't find the folder.

It's working for me anyway.

thanks for solution #62... usual content is back being displayed however NONE
of the the movie links work. problom is as follows: no matter what movie link i
click with no matter what player bottom left corner says loading and after
about 60 sec stops
this goes for ver. 3.7.6 - 3.7.8
navi-x isn't hung up and there's no need force restart... but it's pretty much
useless :(
anyone have an idea?

for everybody using raspbmc:

the file you need to edit is located at ~/.xbmc/addons/Navi-X/src/settings.py

replace the value of home_URL (and home_URL_mirror for good measure) to
whufclee's server as described in post #62.

this did work for me and might work for users on xbian or openelec as well,
although i cannot try this myself at the moment.

thanx andy and above all whufclee
