Is the v2 version tested and working? #10

Closed Giangr closed 3 years ago

I'm here to ask if the V2 board is working well. Is it? I want to use this build for a test, but I want to know if this is working. Especially the Power boost parts. Thanks!

Hi. Its not testet completly. The poweboost part is working and testet since its the same as in V1 and there its working fine.

Is it the same? Cause the components are different. And there is a Safe Shutdown in the V2. Is it possible to play while it is charging? Thanks anyway!

rlcmtzc commented 4 years ago

Yes but the principle. True the safeshutdown is not testet but it can be left out if not working. This is also only an idea and of the safeshutdown. I have only tested it seperatly and simulated it in software where it wors fin but i dont tested it on the board

Again, looking quickly at the BOM text, there is a L2 inductor specified as a 22 uH but in the schematic is 1uH. Is the 22uH the one I should consider? Thanks!

rlcmtzc commented 4 years ago

The 1uH conductor is correct. You can also look up the spcifications of the parts in the datasheet of the ic. In version two i used a very similar but better ic for the boost part. Al the charging stayed the same. I tested this config with the better boost module and it worked fine. I just had no time lately to include it in v1 of the board

Yes you are right and it's a very good work. Moreover, looking at the datasheet, as you suggested, there is no 10pF cap on the Vout of the boost. Why did you add it? Cause looking at LCSC supplier, it's unavailable (in 1812 package) and it's for 3kv voltage..

Thanks always for the patience!

rlcmtzc commented 4 years ago

Yes this cap i added to smooth out the output voltage. Its not really necessary I just thought it wont harm anyway and if there should be a problem with the boost ic it probably will protect the raspberry a little bit. You can leave it out or add any cap with around 10pF (more or less will not change the working of the circuit)
