Great news! I think the EJ data are available for download. I am digging into it a bit more but take a look at the attachment. They have some interesting math and discussions of how they handle buffer areas using population weights from block level data to apply to block group.

They also have a great HELP document which might be a model for a power user for us. I would be willing to draft that if we feel necessary. Even though we are focusing on UX, many will not pick up the advanced options we may add without some hand holding.

image Not sure if this shows, but if we wanted to help users make tradeoffs, we could do a variation of this image. That is, show Crime, 311, PV for the immediate area 1/4 mile, and then compare to Block Group and Neigh and/or city average.

Not sure if that would work but we do need some visual presentation of the data; perhaps our quintiles will suffice...

I checked it out and here is a dictionary of the data which are available at the Block Group level. This was the 2017 version. EJScreen_Index_DescriptionsV4_Pub.xlsx
