In our meeting with Ted we discovered some data from Spring include houses that have been demolished. I am joining our data with 897 demolition candidates, some of which are on the Land Bank listing as active.

In our meeting with Ted Anderson we pulled up a Unsold Res Improved and explored Land Bank Site, APN, and Parcel Viewer. When we discussed it, Ted indicated that property had been demolished. He then explained they just demolished some 200 properties which we did not have in our file as Vacant Residential but still carried as Res Improved. To check this out I did the following:

  1. Access Open Data Demolitions under the $10m program which listed all projects slated for demolition. This included 873 properties.
  2. I used Data Cleansing and UPPER to get addresses relatively clean and then matched that file to my Geocoded_Kansas_City_Addresses which has 241,698 addresses to get APN for matching with Land Bank. All but 22 matched so I looked them up by hand; mismatch due to address errors (e.g., 2230-32 Main, Main Ave….) that can’t be caught other than filtering and exploring. I found all but 1 and joined back to matches for 873.
  3. I took our 1,307 Land Bank Residential Improved and matched them to the Demo file. This is what I found: DEMO. 339 properties were on the demo list, compared to 968 not. UNSOLD-SOLD. Of the 339, 272 were UNSOLD, 67 were SOLD Of the 339 239 were closed (Demolished) 19 were downgraded (i.e., removed from demo list) 30 were put on HOLD 51 were being PROCESSED Of the 339 2 were owned by the city 3 were owned by KCHA (Housing Authority who transfers to Land Bank 280 were owned by the Land Bank 54 were owned by Private; these were SOLD by the Land Bank 49 were listed as PRIVATE disposed 5 were PRIVATE still UNSOLD (not clear about that)

I am attaching the file I joined that includes details from 311, PV, ABS_Land Use, selected demographics from the BLOCKGRP, and demolitions. The DEMDETAIL indicates closed by city/private, the DEMSUM indicates CLOSED or not. Now, we have to decide what to display. I think we need to cut down the list to show only UNSOLD, UNDEMOLISHED.
