Currently, when the TCM reboots (Due to some kind of crash or power loss), it assumes the gearbox is in P, meaning if it then sees the shifter in D, it performs a garage shift. At speed this will cause the car to forcefully engage 2nd gear no matter what speed the vehicle is going at!. This can seriously damage an engine by accidentally over revving it!
