Support Pauses in Numbers #138

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Enter telephone number in address book with a pause in it (ie, a comma)
2. Call using CSipSimple
3. Call will fail

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
On Android, a comma in a telephone number is interpreted as a pause. For
example, to check my voicemail, I dial 1XXXYYYZZZZ,WWWW . That dials my
telephone number (1XXXYYYZZZZ), pauses for a second, and then enters my 4-digit
pin (WWWW). When I select for it to make this call via CSipSimple, it says my
call can not be completed as dialed. Manually calling the number, waiting, and
then entering the pin works as expected.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
0.00-12-9 on Android 2.1-update1.

Please provide any additional information below.

Waouh, I didn't know the existence of this feature. Really useful ! I change my
voice mail number :).

As for the CSipSimple integration... We will wait a while :). But nice idea.
Taken into account.

P.S. : If this is too annoying for your contacts in address book with the pause
in it, you can as a workaround for now use rewriting rules to delete everything
that is after the comma. (I know you'll lost all the dtmf processing...but at
least call will not fail ;) )

Please support alternate methods of entering pause for compatibility with
contact lists for other phones. For example, please support P as an alias for ,

I would like ask for support for this feature but in a more universal way. Yes,
first of all "P" support would be really useful to switch to DTMF automatically
when INVITE completes, but this is not convinient in cases when I need to use a
phone card for dialing my contacts. Please consider the following scenario.
1. All contacts are stored in the SIM phonebook or contact book in the E164
format, i.e. +12011234567 (for a example a common subsciber in N.J., who I want
to call.
2. Somewhere inside CSipSimple an access number and a pin for a phone card
service is stored, i.e. 74951234567 (an access number in Russia for an Asterisk
phone card service) and a pin 1234567890.
3. When I select my N.J. contact from a contact book I have an option - either
to dial it "as is" or to use a pin and access number. In the latter case
CSipSimple would send an INVITE with 74951234567 first , then wait for ANSWER,
then switch to DTMF, enter pin 1234567890, optionally make a pause (it would be
great to implement "P" as a special digit), and finally enter a DTMF for my
contact 12011234567 (omitting a leading + sign as it doesn't make sence in this
case).

This universal approach would allow us to use a contact book for calling card
purposes, because storing +74951234567P1234567890P12011234567 in a contact book
is inconvinient and insecure.

Just as long as you are also able to put pauses in actual phone book contacts,
to support the extension auto-dialing (or conference service or...) pattern.

For #4, I could see needing static prefix and postfix strings.

I really need this feature. I send my bank account numbers, card numbers, ...
to identify myself (except PIN) when calling my bank service center.
Previously I had nokia phone where this was very simple. Since I moved to
Android I have to use PSTN instead of SIP as I can't send DTMF automatically.
Very annoying! Can we expect this feature in the future?

There are other DTMF scenarios as well, for example my car heating system from
webasto needs pin and command after dialing. So one more vote here since it
does not work and the rewriting rule is not really an option.

+1 for this feature request. Its really annoying with vitelity voicemail you
have to enter 19 digits (and remember them) before you can enter your PIN just
to listen to voicemail. It would be great to not only interpret pauses/waits
(pause is a comma, wait for call to connect is a semicolon) but also in the
voicemail number extension which can be specified in csipsimple account setting
(advanced)

android 2.3.3 nightly build r1593. Pause does not work. CSipSimple calls only
digits before comma, digits after comma are ignored.

Hi,

when will this be released in google play?

Thanks!

There is still features to finish before a release on Google Play. Besides I
need more feedback from alpha testers to know if the nightlies doesn't
introduce regressions on existing installations.
If you want to join alpha tests : http://nightlies.csipsimple.com/trunk/
It should be already usable for daily use even if there is some features
supposed to land in this release that are not yet available.
