BUG: Glow stopped working after updating VS code to latest version. #254

Open spels47 opened 2 years ago

spels47 commented 2 years ago

After having updated VS code to

Version: 1.65.2 Date: 2022-03-10T14:33:55.248Z

the glow effect stopped working, note the colors for the theme works, but the glow has stopped working.

i have tried to reinstall the theme, and turning it off and on again as well as installing other themes that has glow. none of these things have solved it.

it worked fine right up until i installed the update.

Oh damn 😕 It seems to be working fine for me on the latest Mac VS Code, which is:

Version: 1.65.2 Date: 2022-03-10T14:33:49.188Z

Judging by the different timestamps, are you're on a different OS? If you could please let me know, I'll see if I can replicate the issue

Ok thanks. I'll get access to a windows machine and take a look. In the mean time, could either of you please run through these steps and let me know if the glow appears:

Previously, a few people noticed that this did cause the glow to kick in. If you could let me know if you get a glow, it'd be a real help in debugging the issue.

Ok thanks. I'll get access to a windows machine and take a look. In the mean time, could either of you please run through these steps and let me know if the glow appears:

  • Set your theme to Synthwave 84
  • Run the neon dreams command
  • restart the browser
  • change to a different theme
  • change back to Synthwave 84

I am having the same problem... the above steps did not fix the issue for me. For whatever reason, completely removing the extension, closing out of VSCode completely, and then reinstalling it fixed it. I am not sure why, but I hope it works for you too :)

spels47 commented 2 years ago

tried uninstalling the extension then closing all VSCode windows that was open, then opening a new VSCode window and installing Synthwave 84 again. but did not work for me.

will try the steps @robb0wen suggested next

tried to set my theme to Synthwave 84 (even though it was already set to this theme from before) run the neon dreams command. was asked to restart the browser through pop up and did so through that pop up dialog. changed to Panda Theme changed back to Synthwave 84

did not have an effect for me.

Glad to hear it's working again!

That corrupt message is expected, sadly. There are instructions in the readme on how to remove it :)
