Provide a text summary of messages when a captions file is available #64

What's the problem you're hoping this new feature will solve?

It's not always easy to understand what content is in a keep posted message without watching it. When someone is busy, taking the time to watch a several minute video can be a hard thing to prioritize.

Description of feature

A generated summary of the content of the message would help people get a sense of what they are about to watch. Or, it may help them decide if it's worth prioritizing watching it. Otherwise, they could still absorb the gist of the message by reading the summary.

There are several services that can do summarization off a block of text. Part of the transcription process could also include a summary of the message that could be shared or displayed alongside the message itself.

Alternatives and workarounds

Currently people have to watch the video to absorb the content. They can do it on high-speed if they want to go faster.
