Update on the reporting of SARS-CoV-2 variants after the expiration of the Coronavirus Surveillance Regulation #49

Will records still be posted online when the SARS-CoV-2 surveillance (CorSurV) expires at the end of May?

icestorm972 commented 1 year ago

As the data submission (with recompensation for sequencing) based on CorSurV actually expired April 30th*), I'd guess today was the last (big) last sunday was the last update?

So I'll add an extra question to the one above: "Will the sequencing data from IMS-SC2 of the ongoing surveillance (with ~ 100 samples per week according to last weekly situation report?) added to this repository as updates?"

P.S. The _SARS-CoV-2-SequenzdatenDeutschland.csv/.fasta update from today deleted nearly all old data...

*) see also https://www.gesetze-im-internet.de/corsurv/BJNR601910021.html : "Eine Datenübermittlung gemäß § 1 Absatz 1 an das Robert Koch-Institut ist letztmalig zum 30. April 2023 zulässig."

Dear all,

Since January 2021, the CorSurV program has been instrumental in providing comprehensive and detailed surveillance of SARS-CoV-2 variants in Germany and has enabled the rapid implementation of measures to contain the spread of variants of concern. However, as the pandemic enters a new phase, the need for this comprehensive and highly sensitive tool has diminished. Nonetheless, effective surveillance of SARS-CoV-2 variants in Germany persists. The established SARS-CoV-2 surveillance program at the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) will continue to perform genome sequencing on approximately 100 SARS-CoV-2 positive samples weekly. These samples are collected from the IMSSC2 laboratory network, a joint effort between the RKI and laboratories across Germany. In addition, more samples and SARS-CoV-2 genome sequences will be obtained in response to infection events through various sources, including the RKI's virological surveillance of acute respiratory infections and the National Reference Center for Coronaviruses at Charité.

Dear all,

we would like to inform you that in the upcoming days, we will be implementing some significant changes to the repository and updated the documentation. As part of this process, we have created a new branch called main which already incorporates the new structure.

The main changes that you can expect are as follows:
