why masscan is weak at windows? #483

hi i have installed masscan at linux in a pc , and i got 200kpps rate then i installed windows on the pc and after a masscan scan i see 25kpps rate why its lower than linux? how to fix this low rate?

I suggest a reboot. If that doesn't fix the issue, perhaps defragment your C drive.

What's the purpose of the question? I could think of several reasons masscan doesn't perform as well on Windows but none of them have anything to do with masscan. I would recommend simply not running masscan on Windows. I don't think you're going to get an answer or any other resolution here other than this.

im a windows vps cracker cracking windows vps is my job i need to scan ip faster ip scanning very helps me i dont have linux server to scan with them

then i need to increse the rate of scan

Ever heard of Virtualbox? You can download Kali as an OVA file and import it. Masscan comes pre-installed IIRC. Kinda beyond the pale of anything the developer needs to address, IMHO.

yes but vbox decreses the speed of scan is the problem winpcap or npacp?

Maybe you could open up a ticket with Microsoft. :-)

I run Kali through Virtualbox on a decent but inexpensive gaming laptop with 8 Gigs of RAM running Windows 10 Pro as the host OS. I don't have any issues with scanning speed. If I did I'd move to Kali as the host OS.

I'll open the floor to the other folks here if anyone has any comments on winpcap etc. on Windows.
