No, this is what works. This is what people want. I can't change it.
I will eventually add one of those huge footers that are so popular along with an about page. There is also going to be a picture of my face + a welcome to my site blurb added to the sidebar. Supposedly, it adds the crucial human element.
I'm open to stylistic improvements to the "Share this" and "Related" sections. The articles page is missing something, too, it's too bland.
Basically, the body width is one of the few things that I'm really happy with (along with the body/header font, favicon, and site name pic). I like to keep my paragraphs short so, if I increase the body width too much, the paragraphs become single lines.
With that said, it's true that there is a lot of open space, probably too much, especially on screens with a decent resolution. That's just temporary until I have enough content so that I can fill additional sidebars. It's likely, also, that I will do a site-wide redesign at some point and then all of this will be moot, anyways.
On my monitor, the site doesn't even span half the screen. If you are going to left align the site, can you at least make the text area wider?
