This doesn't seem like a good change to me. If I'm a beginner, I want it to 
always be
visible. If I'm an expert, why not just hide it completely? Having information
"flicker" as I pass over a row of pieces is very visually distracting.

Possibly make this a configuration toggle to Never/Always show this? If you 
really
want, we could have a third "show on mouse-over", but I personally don't think 
that
would be a useful feature
