Your network has a caching web proxy, Squid, which is an intermediary server
that stands between your
firewalled office network and the outside internet. Web browsers need to be
configured to send connections
through this proxy server, otherwise you aren't able to connect to the internet
outside of your local network.
GMDesk is essentially a custom web browser, so it would need to be configured
to connect to this proxy
server. This may not be possible. If Windows was properly configured with the
proxy server settings, GMDesk
would hopefully be able to find and use these settings, as it doesn't provide a
web browser of its own, it just
uses the operating system's built in browser engine, which in your case I would
guess would be Internet
Explorer.
I don't use Windows so I can't help with the proxy settings, but that's the
explanation. I suspect your office
computer may be locked down enough that you aren't able to view/change proxy
settings anyway, in which
case I would ask your IT department for help.
