Also, another platform which looks really good is the Fetch from http://fetchrobotics.com/ @rohanbhargava11 RoboCup 2018 will be in Montreal next year- I'm sure Fetch would be able to throw together a team ;-)

@timn I thought we talked in Nagoya and the RCLL was also Open Platform... but I just checked the 2017 rules and it seems that is not the case.
I tagged you here on the closed issue as an off topic FYI.
This has been merged. Hopefully we see some more diverse robots because it could open up some fun for the crossover challenge.
I've previously suggested increasing the width and length limitations because I spoke with @RobotnikAutomation about their mobile platform which could be similar to a Kuka YouBot.
The decision then, was to wait until we're approached by a team with the platform to approach the TC and request for the size to be increased.
In @RobocupAtHome DSPL league, I saw the Toyota HSR platform looks promising. It's base dimensions fit within the footprint size of the @robocup-at-work rules, but the height requirement is too low.
The HSR is, capable of grasping objects off of the floor, so grasping off of the shelves designed around the YouBot shouldn't be an issue.
In General, now that the YouBot has been discontinued, the RuleBook should proactively adapt to allow for alternatives.
