When I try setting kUseBackgroundThread to YES, my app freezes when startTVOut.

I'm having this same issue. Did you ever find a solution?

I did not find a solution with this library. Gave up after the iPad 2 with HDMI mirroring arrived.

That same feature that allows the iPad 2 to mirror is not supported on the iPhone is it?
