Stream is displaying weird image #429

All of my streams has been like this today, i can watch old video perfectly this is only affecting the live sessions.

same here, except this happens on videos as well for me. Plus the application reads: subscription status: unknown

I suppose it's the problem again with DRM. We had this in the past and it's back since Australia for some people. Now we're all on the train.

The subscription status 'unknown' is nothing to worry about, it's a result of the new login window.

I'm getting an error message that says "An error occurred while retrieving the stream URL" I'm using a VPN

This is because F1TV implemented DRM. Developers are working on a fix but we dont know when that will be.

Sounds awful if true, my regular F1TV is also not working so Race control and the f1tv app in my phone is the only way i can watch f1, F1TV support is also the worst customer service i have never encountered, i have opened 2-3 tickets with my issues and they never solve them. They just reset my password and tell me to try again..

Same here weird image on the last traning and qualifying. All before are still good

A possible idea to what is causing this is maybe they are just using a new video CODEC for this weekend which they haven't used before. I am less inclined to think it is some sort of DRM since you can still watch the last race(Australia 2022) just fine. (Or DRM through obscurity)

A CODEC change could help with many of F1TV's issues so it would make sense for them to make that change.

@jermy12321 It is DRM. They take it off when the session video moves from Instant Replay to the normal VOD system. This usually happens within 4-12 hours of a session ending. That's why older race sessions work now (like Australia), but the Qualifying highlights are currently blocked. If it's not unblocked in the next four hours, it definitely will be by the start of Practice 2 at 10:30 UTC.
