Steps to reproduce:

1. Download Alliance SVN source
2. Read documentation

Expected result:

See decently specified protocol independent of the source code that could be 
used to verify the design intent of the protocol and write competing 
implementations.

Actual result:

See a bunch of convoluted verbose Java code with little documentation and no 
protocol spec.
