Failed to Run #42

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.open either Alliance.java or Alliance.exe

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expect the program to run. If running *.java, hangs on opening splash screen; 
if running *.exe, error popup "Failure to find Java VM".

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Version 1.3.1, Windows 8 x64.

Please provide any additional information below.
I was using it fine; for some reason, starting this week, it wouldn't run. 
Uninstalled and reinstalled (manually, and through the installer), but to no 
avail. Reinstalled Java as well.

just got this error. Version 1.3.1, Windows 8 x64. was this ever solved?

Unfortunately no. My most recent attempt was right after I got back from Winter 
Break. I'll try again sometime this week and report here.
