Ok I managed to render a high resolution image using QGIS of the coast using data from https://www.naturalearthdata.com/. Should probably cite them in the final thesis.
The above image actually makes my laptop hang a bit (it is at 400 dpi i.e 4000 x 4000ish pixels). This is half that resolution.
when you zoom in the map looks kinda bad. I'm struggling to download a high resolution map of this area it seems the scale is too large for openstreetmap and most free places that render maps for you, might need to download osm data directly and somehow render the map locally. Alternatively if vtk had some kind of vector graphics capabilities to render a
.svg
file then maybe we could use that instead but I can't find this functionality.
