We will almost certainly reorganize the material (e.g., put all the chapters under src), but for now, this gives us a place to put notes. This PR includes one topic directory for work on a text editor - @lukewilliamboswell please add stuff there once this is merged.

I now realize you perhaps did not want to merge this yet @gvwilson? I apologize if so, we usually use draft PRs or include WIP in the PR title if it's not ready to merge yet.
