This contains a bunch of cleanups of the test suite.
The only functionality change is the addition of 'example transformations'. They are meant to provide a typical transformation for a dynamic transform, so that GUIs can display something meaningful even if no data has been received (or, in the case of the rock-transformer tool from gui/vizkit, when no data will ever be received)
