The link for the aria driver is outdated

2maz commented 4 years ago

@Rauldg Should we take https://github.com/cinvesrob/Aria? Are you a user of the aria package?

Rauldg commented 4 years ago

@2maz there are several options, I found AriaCoda The most active. In my particular case I need it for the SeekurJr and there is a group which is doing something similar but with ROS using that one.

I started some work in the direction to fix this, but more urgent issues started. These are the next steps I have planned. Don't know when I can retake this though.

@Rauldg and @2maz Hey guys! The issue is still exist. http://robots.mobilerobots.com/ARIA/download/archives/ARIA-2.7.5+gcc4.3.tgz does not exist anymore. There are several github forks from original repo. As well as deb package archive: https://web.archive.org/web/20180205212122/http://robots.mobilerobots.com/wiki/Aria

Did you find a solution for it?

Other question, do we want to switch to the newest version of driver? It is 2.9.4

Rauldg commented 2 years ago

@annaborn Unfortunately I have not worked on this any further. Without having taken an extensive look, seems like AriaCoda is currently the most maintained version. The official 2.9.4 is unmaintained as far as I know. I guess AriaCoda is what ROS user use
