Shoppinglist unable to find search matches for existing items containing international characters

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Add an item to the shopping list containing an international character 
(non-ascii), like Norwegian "å", for instance "Håndsåpe".
2. Try to begin typing that word, like "Hånd".

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I expect "Håndsåpe" to appear in the quick search results. Instead I see no 
matches.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
1.3.1.
