Hello.

First of all thanks for this awesome program.

I'm having a bug when i use 2 screens with diferents wallpapers (main is a video, secondary is an animated html with clock and weather). When lively starts on PC startup, sometimes a program with a video logo appears on my Taskbar.

taskbar

I did some tests and i know it's the program which reproduce the video on my main screen, because it stop reproduce when i can't the video wallpaper (it turns orange instead of green).

taskbar_2

That error is not happening always on startup and i can resolve it simply closing and opening lively wallpaper, so i suspect it might be something about startup load times but not sure.

Any ideas?

Regards.

  1. Can you share a screenshot of your taskbar Multiple display settings? Screenshot 2021-07-11 192117
  2. Try changing the above settings and see if it still happens?
  3. When you start your pc, do you wait before logging in? (is Lively already loaded by the time you login.)
  4. Looking at the logs, one of the display is using display port connection?

  1. (sorry it's in spanish)

  1. I changed the settings just the same as on your screenshot. This happen from time to time so i will answer on a couple of days with the result.
  2. No, lively loads after i log in. First i can see the real wallpaper (the one i had on windows, it's a normal jpg), then lively loads.
  3. Yes. One monitor is on HDMI port, the other one is on DP (with a HDMI adapter).
victorgonzcuriel commented 3 years ago

I can confirm it still happens.

rocksdanister commented 3 years ago

I tried recreating this several times, no luck. Not sure if issue is with the code or the host system.

For the time being although not ideal just switch videplayer to wmf: Lively settings -> Wallpaper -> Video -> Video Player

victorgonzcuriel commented 3 years ago

Changed to wmf. Anyway if i find something wrong on my PC i'll let you know.

Thanks for the work 👍.

juliocoliveira commented 1 year ago

I can confirm it still happens, On Windows 11. image lively_log_20230311_062834.zip Please fix it.

juliocoliveira commented 1 year ago

The issue seems to happen only when i put a video on one monitor and matrix on the other. And how I install WMF?

What is causing this bug?? Will it ever get fixed? The app is not usable if this issue needs to be manually "fixed" by going to the app and reapplying the wallpaper on every start up

rocksdanister commented 1 year ago

Only some users have this problem, I do not know the cause as of right now.

The WMF video player does not have the problem https://github.com/rocksdanister/lively/issues/598#issuecomment-1464944276

wmf player is changing the aspect ratio and messing with the contrast of the mp4 wallpaper, and there is no way to configure it so its not usable. Tried with vlc player and the same taskbar bug is happening. Note that this bug doesn't occur on every start up, but on (in my case) 3/5 start ups.

Hope the culprit behind this bug will soon be found and fixed!

messing with the contrast of the mp4 wallpaper

Adjust video color settings in driver software

changing the aspect ratio

Looks like I didn't implement aspect ratio configuration for it yet.. I'll release an update plugin in a few days check later.

If you have further problems or questions related to WMF then make a new issue or discussion since this one is about mpv taskbar bug.

Have same issue on Windows 11. The icon appears on taskbar after startup. I don't have multi monitor setup.
