I think this is coming together really nicely! Here are my small edits for the first ~15 pages. I've highlighted major changes using the \dfm macro. Feel free to revert or edit any of them, of course.
The biggest edit that I would suggest is refactoring the SVD section substantially. I think that the derivation in the current version is not very useful for most readers and might be better in an appendix with this section just discussing things a bit more intuitively.
