Modes do not change on GCS. #347

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Install APM planner version 0.4.33 or 0.4.35
2. Set up mode switch as normal.
3. Observe mode indicated in the GCS

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Mode: Manual is always indicated, regardless of actual mode selected. Modes 
change on screen when using planner 0.4.30

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
APM 2.11, Planner versions 0.4.30, 0.4.33 and 0.4.35

Please provide any additional information below.

the newer version are for yet unreleased version of apm

I'n not too sure I understand what you mean. These are versions that I 
downloaded via the 'Update check' menu item. Are you saying I shouldn't be 
using these versions?
