For single storm simulations, WEPP currently works for runoff through infiltration excess runoff (hortonian flow) since model doesn’t perform water balance calculations in single storm mode. This needs to be clarified somewhere in the tutorial or documentation. The lateral flow and baseflow component is supposed to be only for continuous simulation mode. We did not test the single storm simulation mode thoroughly, hence this issue.
Roger: For SINGLE STORM mode, could we set the value of the initial groundwater storage parameter value to 0 mm instead of default 200 mm, and/or baseflow coefficient parameter value to 0.0 per day instead of default 0.04 per day in the ‘gwcoeff.txt’ file, which is causing baseflow to occur. Andy may have to rerun simulations after this change.
