"Space" character size? #7

Closed tomauty closed 9 years ago

Not sure what exactly the issue is, but when using this in my topbar, each space character seems very wide. 2015-04-02-134343_579x31_scrot (generally the text is very close to the icons)

I'm just using -*-creep-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* but I've tried multiple combinations in xfontsel.

Any help would be appreciated. Looks great otherwise :)

Edit - comparison to "lemon" font: 2015-04-02-134553_431x20_scrot

Which panel using?

tomauty commented 9 years ago

LemonBoy's bar

sirikid commented 9 years ago

If you do not paint the text will be the same? Use the default bar configuration, replace only the font. echo 'some text with spaces' | lemonbar -p -f bla-bla-creep

tomauty commented 9 years ago

Sorry, not sure if I follow. Here's my config https://github.com/tomauty/dotfiles/blob/master/bspwm/.config/bspwm/panel/config

That screenshot was taken with creep uncommented for FONT1, which is passed in as the first argument of -f.

romeovs commented 9 years ago

Hmm I've no idea where this is coming from. The letter-spacing seems to be set correctly so that's not it.

sirikid commented 9 years ago

I think this is more due to the panel than the font. Same issue: https://github.com/LemonBoy/bar/issues/117

tomauty commented 9 years ago

Yeah looks like it, I'll follow that issue instead. Thanks guys.

tomauty commented 9 years ago

Or I guess I won't follow it since it's closed, but I won't clutter this channel with unrelated issues.

romeovs commented 9 years ago

@tomauty Well you're welcome to post the answer here if you ever find one, it might help other poeple facing the same issue.

tomauty commented 9 years ago

Yeah I definitely will

yyny commented 2 years ago

creep doesn't define a space character, which might be part of the issue.
