Just dropping as an FYI: http://datascience.la/dplyr-and-a-very-basic-benchmark/

It looks like using a dt key could speed up some calculations a bit. Frankly I don't think it is necessary given that we're probably splitting hairs even with VPC-sized datasets but thought I'd drop it in for future optimizations.
