One of the things that I have found is that new grad students sometimes deal with a lot of difficulties with finding lab processes, how to work with code made by past students who are no anymore part of the lab, how to use software that has been already used by other students but doesn't have enough time to go over the details plus the need to advance in their courses and their research.
Using free tools such as github pages and mkdocs or quarto can help to document the "tribal knowledge" so new people in the lab can speed up in their new duties.
