Same problem, also on a mac. But loads run fine if I just double click it to
load in
quartz composer. Related to the slow/start stop problem?

I am using a mac and the black screen is frequent. If I try to preview the
screensaver, I always get a black screen. When I let the screensaver come on,
about 8 times out of 10 it will work(with frequent freeze ups) and the other
two times the screen is black.

I have extracted the list of camera URLs using Quartz Composer and tested them
all via a shell script and wget.
Many of the cameras can't be connected to and others are now mandating
authorisation.
I am reasonably confident that this is the cause of the various blank screen
issues that people are experiencing.
My plan is to use the wget log to assemble a replacement list of working URLs
and embed that into the screensaver.
Obviously a more longterm solution is required. Downloading a list of current
valid URLs from a central server would seem to make sense, since the
screensaver inevitably requires a working Internet connection.

Looks like what is needed is an update to the screensaver that connects to the
public-viewpoints server used by the iPhone app.

I'm using the screen saver on OS X and nothing ever comes up. just a black
screen.. Is there some part of the installation that I'm missing? I just select
it from the 'screen savers' list in the Settings menu..
