Ubuntu 22.04 lts prerequisite oneliner fails, update to python3

Not sure about the other distros.

I'm not anaumann :-) and GitHub still says "This branch cannot be rebased due to conflicts"? Let me know if you need help! (Also, please rebase, don't merge: we like to keep history linear.)
