I tried this one, but it seems to color tags way too arbitrarily for the purpose https://github.com/pfrankov/obsidian-colored-tags
This plugin seems good, and it integrated with some other projects like Kanban, maybe you could take a look if it can integrate with CardBoard too? https://github.com/code-of-chaos/obsidian-colored_tags_wrangler
Regardless, the documentation probably needs an update.
