Is it possible to overlay rulers to the images?

I need to crop a lot of images, but it is always a guess and tries. The possibility to overlay a grid on top of the image to visualize the image dimension will be great.

I've been planning forever to write a little htmlwidget for this, but I haven't gotten to it yet.
