The addition of pages.size() creates an error in large pdfs, and it doesn't seem necessary.

Jeroen has suggested a better solution in this commit: https://github.com/ropensci/qpdf/commit/098c6fa1c8fe7f3d6031b407a669b2b2240b7e75 So I think that this PR is not needed anymore and can be closed.
