[x] IUCN Red list, see rredlist. Includes vernacular and synonyms
[ ] WoRMS see worrms package. Include vernacular and synonyms
[ ] BOLD ?
[ ] EOL
[ ] wikidata: currently have taxon ids, but not synonyms, vernacular, or sameAs mappings.

See http://rs.gbif.org/datasets/ includes more updated copies of wikipedia, plantlist, tol, usda, and others...

Not sure if you're taking votes, but WoRMS is critical for us (BLE LTER).

@twhiteaker Thanks! feedback always welcome. Any pointers for source on WoRMS? Last I looked I recall there wasn't a downloadable dump, and maybe some terms-of-use issues as well.

Also not sure if it meets your needs, but note that COL already includes WoRMS names (see https://www.catalogueoflife.org/data/source-datasets), so maybe you could query against COL directly? (though I don't see how to get WoRMS own id codes that way).

Hmm, I don't have pointers for WoRMS source.

Once my LTER site has produced some data involving taxa, I'll see if the terms we need from WoRMS are included in COL.
