Does not work with inline wired remotes #9

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Press any button on inline wired remote

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Should be handled by Media Button Router, but is not. MBR does not seem to
intercept wired remote buttons?

What version of the product are you using? On what version of android? On what
device?
Samsung Vibrant, Bionix 1.3.1 (Android 2.2 mod).

The info page says this is "geared" towards bluetooth media buttons. Is there
any support at all for wired headsets? A definite answer on the page would
lessen confusion, since I had to try this out to see if it might work or not.
Thanks!

Can you describe your wired remote buttons? Is there a product page for it? how
does it connect to the device? What apps does it work with? What buttons are
there on it?

HTC Evo headset here:

http://www.amazon.com/HTC-Stereo-Headset-EVO-Black/dp/B003OE30KQ/ref=wl_it_dp_o?
ie=UTF8&coliid=I1VO1XBVKG1EPC&colid=2DOX360A5QOS1

Has rwd / play-pause-hangup / fwd buttons.

I'm using it on a Samsung Vibrant. There could be hardware incompatibility.
However, clicking on any button causes the Google Music Beta player to
play/pause on my Vibrant. media-button-router never shows. Could also be a
priority issue with google music beta?

I can't really address this since I don't have any wired headsets with
functionality. I know based on user reviews that other people have successfully
used media-button-router with headphones.

The only thing I think it could be is that the htc headset doesn't send both
media button down and up presses, but that's doubtful.

AFAIK, the headset itself is a passive device - just connects a resistor
between the mic & ground inputs. The multi-button remotes (like this one) have
3 resistor values. However, my phone (Samsung Vibrant) recognizes all buttons
as the "center" button.

It's possible other apps were interfering. I've decided to stop using wired
headsets anyway, since it was shorting due to sweat & rain while running.
Thanks anyway.

Since it's no longer a problem.. closing this as won't fix unless another user
brings it up.
