University departments and faculties are out of scope for ROR.

If this faculty is not in the scope for ROR, can you please tell me why the faculties of the University of Belgrade ( https://ror.org/02qsmb048 ) have ROR id? What was the criteria applied to the faculties and schools of the University of Belgrade so that each one had ROR? Thank you!

The University of Belgrade was an exceptional circumstance where each faculty functions as its own independent higher educational institution, degree granting body, has independent accreditation, and legal status. U.Porto comprises 14 Teaching and Research Organisational Units (faculties) and 11 Research Organisational Units (associated research institutes), all of which have scientific, educational, administrative and financial autonomy. @up415865 Thanks for clarifying. We will review at our next curation board meeting in August. The degree of autonomy here seems somewhat different as the faculties are cited as having "a direct hierarchical relationship with the University of Porto's central administration." We would likewise need to know about how each faculty is accredited and its independent degree granting status.

Noting for ROR curation team discussion: a possible outcome here is also that the University of Belgrade faculties should be withdrawn, relative to or until such time as we could evaluate for all institutions.

Separately, the R&D structures for Universidade do Porto - https://ror.org/043pwc612 are already in scope for ROR, per our change to support named research centers and facilities. This was determined on the basis that they are frequently cited without reference to the parent (unlike university faculties or departments) and likewise at the request of research information systems, such as OpenAlex, relative to this need for discovery.
