In ROR's typical hierarchy, these would generally be represented with parent-child relationships, based on their being located in disparate locations with discrete names, as well as how these constituent institutes are used as affiliations and otherwise references. Below are some examples:
Affiliation usage:
Fire Safety Research Institute (FSRI):
https://doi.org/10.1177/07349041241237517
Electrochemical Safety Research Institute (ESRI): https://doi.org/10.1149/1945-7111/ac30af
Chemical Insights Research Institute (CIRI): https://doi.org/10.1021/acs.chas.2c00002
Secondary reference:
https://doi.org/10.1021/acsami.3c15859
Will reach out to the requestor to clarify.
Sounds pretty obvious to me : each institute should be considered as a distinct facility with its own ROR record mentioning the adress, and linked as child to UL. Maybe putting everything in the same, main record is a way to ensure all research outputs will be attributed to UL ?
Per curation team discussion on 2024/10/01, we will resolve by adding multiple locations and discrete records for each of the institutes. Both historic and current affiliation usage requires this representation to correctly match research outputs. Should these change over time, we will deprecate the child records to reflect the true single reference. @rileymmarsh Could you handle this update and the new record requests?
Updated in release v1.53.
Summary of request: Modify the information in an existing ROR record
Update record: Name of organization: UL Research Institutes ROR ID: https://ror.org/045n75910 Which part of the record needs to be changed? Something else Description of change: I'm writing to request the additional of several addresses for the ROR record for UL Research Institutes, which has multiple locations as well as a headquarters location. You already have the headquarters location listed with the ROR (included below), but there are four more addresses that are constituent to the headquarters entity, so the additional addresses should be tied to the same ROR (https://ror.org/045n75910). Below are the addresses - please let me know if you have any questions or need additional information. Thanks!:
