Summary of request: Add a new organization to ROR

Add record: Name of organization: Mittelalter. Interdisziplinäre Forschung und Rezeptionsgeschichtede Website: https://mittelalter.hypotheses.org Domains: mittelalter.hypotheses.org Link to publications: https://doi.org/10.26012/mittelalter-32750 Organization type: Other (Use this category for any organization that does not fit the categories above) Wikipedia page: Wikidata ID: Q106259434 ISNI ID: GRID ID: Crossref Funder ID: Aliases: Mittelalterblogde; Middle Ages. Interdisciplinary research and reception history*en Labels: Acronym/abbreviation: Related organizations: City: Oldenburg, München Country: Germany Geonames ID: Year established: 2012 How will a ROR ID for this organization be used? To be integrated in a scholarly publishing system

Other information about this request: I hope my request for the registration of our research blog as a publisher (other scholars are publishing with us, we are also listed in the DOAJ). Apart from the general benefits of being registered at ROR, my request has a direct practical purpose: It would be really great not to have to type the name of the blog as "publisher" every single time when registering a DOI at Datacite. And there's about 50 more DOIs coming this year. Please tell me If there is a registration fee involved - depending on the amount, I might have to reconsider, since we are non-profit.

There are no fees to access and use ROR. Blogs are typically out of scope, as they do not usually meet the requirements to be considered a publisher under ROR guidelines. However, this blog meets several; requirements including persistent identification and external indexing. Tagging for more review.

From what I can tell, "Mittelalter. Interdisziplinäre Forschung und Rezeptionsgeschichtede" is the journal, not an organization that publishes the the journal. Seemingly, there is no organization that publishes the journal - it looks like a self-publishing project on the part of the editors.

That is, I'm not seeing evidence of organizational infrastructure outside of the journal itself. There is editorial staff, but no administrative staff, no affiliation usage, and no third-party indexing.

I can see how it's a grey area, because this journal is apparently completely independent from any other publishing or organizational infrastructure. But, I don't think that means it's a publisher, rather than, or in addition to, a journal.

Current guidance for journals says "Do not add to ROR if: individual journal (ISSN is the appropriate identifier for journals)." So, I'd be inclined to decline the request, but maybe we want to revisit the guidance about individual journals to add some caveat about self-publishing?

Declining relative to the above request. To close to a journal in the absence of any other form organizational structure defining.
