Thanks for contribution, I think this depenency is described in package.xml and you can install via rosdep install --from-path slam_gmapping https://github.com/ros-perception/slam_gmapping/blob/8c2fc6708b5de14c3a88f9d91f3f90271c2801ce/gmapping/package.xml#L19
