Create mailing list for the distribution #19

This is the mailing list that go out for builds on https://build.ros2.org/ for the distribution. Email Geoff at OSRF to create a Group by following these steps:

  1. Go to https://groups.google.com/ while logged in with an Open Robotics account.
  2. Click “Create group”
  3. In the “Group name” field, enter the group name as “ros2-buildfarm-RELEASE” where RELEASE is the official name of the distro; eg iron.
  4. In the “Group email” field, make sure the domain is “@googlegroups.com”. This will print a warning about this being an external list, but this is precisely what we want.
  5. In the “Group description”, put: “ROS 2 Buildfarm notifications for the ROS 2 Humble Hawksbill distribution.” (replace “Humble Hawksbill” with the name of the distribution)
  6. In “Choose privacy settings”, leave everything as default except make “Who can post” only “Group owners”.
  7. In “Add members”, enable “Directly add members”, and then make the ROS Boss the Group owner, the current ROS 2 tech lead a group manager, and the current Infrastructure lead a group manager. Leave everything else the same, then click “Create group”.
  8. Once the group is created, click on “Members”, and add “noreply@build.ros2.org” as a member. After adding this member, make sure that the subscription is set to “No email” in the Subscription column for this member.
  9. Now go to “Group settings”, and set “New member restrictions” to “New members cannot post”.
  10. Now go to “Group settings”, and set “Subject prefix” to “[ros2-buildfarm-RELEASE]”
