Where/how are citations going to be marked up?

elegant-scipy includes the citation definitions themselves in the same document where the reference is. PROS

• Citation is local to document - kind of nice to be able to see reference info without having to click on link or context switch

CONS

• Clutters up document
• Cross-document references? (e.g. paper cited in ch1.ipynb and ch4.ipynb)

Potential feature: combine LaTeX style citations (.bib file) with a footnote or better bidirectional linking to capture the pro above.

Also: necessary to have auto-numbering of citations/references - make sure various markups handle that
