How to replace default Fallout 1 installation on Steam?

Is this a possibility? I don't mind manual configuration, so I don't really need Steam Detour.

Replace installation? For what reason exactly? Because from my perspective it leads to nothing more than pointless mess. And while we're at it, what's wrong with SteamDetour?

I just couldn't get it to work. Probably a Linux issue. Sorry to waste your time, I'll just close this.

Ah. Linux. That explains few things :D

SteamDetour doesn't do anything complex to be honest. Here is "manual" version of it; whole functionality is basically

change working directory to executable path (required for Fallouts, because 90s)
run game and remember its process id
find GameOverlayUI.exe in Steam directory and run it with Steam and game processes ids within arguments

I'm not going to pretend that i know anything about how Steam overlay works on Linux, but if it's using GameOverlayUI for injection like on Windows, i believe you should be able to simulate whole thing in short .sh - Linux have more elegant tools to work with PIDs than average Windows install after all :)
